Learn the Japanese Art of Calligraphy

Professional calligraphy artist Kazuko Carper will give a calligraphy demonstration at the National Archives in Washington, DC. After the demonstration, the audience is invited to try their hand at writing a few selected characters. Writing materials are supplied.

Carper moved to the United States 10 years ago and has been practicing the art of calligraphy ever since. She has studied Kanji with the Japan Calligraphy Education Foundation and is currently ranked 5th Dan. Her dedication to practicing calligraphy is motivated by a desire to share Japanese culture with others.
